Rod Tapers - Fallcreek9

Howdy All:
At the Grayling meet, Dennis Higham had three rods that were measured on the
spot.

1. An FE Thomas 7-1/2', # 4, 3-Pc that was a real pleasure to cast.
2. An 8', # 5, 2-Pc msytery rod. It is one of those rods one remembers as
being great. It has the hardware of a Leonard, but had been refinished and
thus no info on the blank. The butt cap had the Leonard name, and
someone at the meet who knows Leonards told Dennis that he thought it was a
Leonard DF 50 Tournament. The rod cast with strength and punch.
3. The third rod cast well with a # 4 DT line. It is an 8', 3-Pc rod and
has a very distictive feel that someone there described as "a buttery-smooth
transition of power from hand to presentation of the fly on the water,
without any interruptions". The only rod I personally have cast that had
that feel was a 7-0', # 4 Payne # 97 or # 98.

Dennis offers the tapers to the list:

The following is the description of the # 3 rod, above.

Ps - For Reed Curry: Pls contact me about the long, light rod with red/blk
windings that you were casting. Wondering what are the chances of getting
those dimensions.
