Tom.
I made a new section for a SB359 a couple of years ago. Grodon Koppin was
kind enough to send me measurements below of a 359 he had.
Hope this helps,
Don Schneider

Gordon's coments/measurements:
Don,
I measured the rod last night and found the taper to be a little difficult
since some flats were as much as .007 larger than the other two. I used the
one from the two flats. I also have the guide spacing listed. I measured the
entire rod since I was doing this.

This is measured OVER the varnish that I put on the rod. I would guess .004
thick.

Guide spacing was measured from the tip top and I may have altered this when
I refinished the rod since there are more guides than I believe the original
had..

  Rodmakers,

I recently came across an old South Bend 359-9' 3/1 with a short mid
section. The butt and tip are the right length, but the mid is only 20.5"
long. The assembled rod length is 92". It looks like the mid section broke
off at the bottom, and the owner simply built up the ferrule station and
glued the original male ferrule back on. The guides were missing and the
varnish was awful, but the ferrules were tight, the sections straight, reel
seat in good shape, and the rod had one of those cool "comficient" grips.
The guy wanted $15, so I went ahead and bought it.
