Re nymphing rod - Adam Vigil
Good nymphing rod should be able to roll cast line and split shot with little effort. It should be able to lift a fair amount of line and be able to back cast and forward cast with no false casting. Be about 8 feet for mending and to keep the leader out of the bushes on the back cast.
You can of course nymph with any rod but when the only choice is nymphing I reach for my Para 14 5wt.

What characteristics should a good nymphing rod have? How would it differ
from an ideal dry fly rod? Any suggested tapers?
