Re 6 pc rod - Marty D.

What I do is I find a taper I like (in this case a Payne 98) and I
adjust the taper for the added ferrule weight . The tip section stays
the same , the next section is increased by .002, the third by .003 and
so on. This really isn't rocket science! I never plug a taper into a
"fancy-shmancy" computer program. I also never graph a taper. Now, I am
not saying there is anything wrong with doing that but it's just not me.
Here is the Taper I used.

I made the rod with only 1 tip because with pack rods for extra tips to
be effective the first 2 or 3 sections need to be made extra as that is
where the majority of the flexing takes place. I also planed this rod in
2 sections and then cut them to length.. Marty
