Payne 7 -1 2 2 2 3 4oz #262 #4 line Parabolic - Marty D.


Hi list, Here is a rare 7'1" Payne Parabolic. The rod is interesting in 
that the tip top dimension is a scant .054" yet the 05" station is a 
beefy .084". I guess it has to be that way to be Parabolic as my 
definition of a Para taper is "thin butt /heavy tip". I guess Jim wanted 
to have a fine tip to protect fine tippets rather than counting  on the 
para action for protection. In the hand the rod feels semi-parabolic and 
is a very sweet  action for a #4 line. I measured the rod without 
varnish and in 2 different formats as I know some like tapers listed one
