Lee Wulff Taper and Up-Date - Dave Collyer

Hi List, There are a few corrections and up-dates the Lee Wulff Taper I
posted this morning...

I left out the 80" station and swapped it with the 85" station, it was early
what can I say. The corrected version is below, delete the first taper and
replace with this one.

Jerry M. asked: are the ferrules step down? The ferrules are not step down,
there straight. The difference between station 45 and 50 where the ferrule
is, is .030", that's quite a drop but they must of not turned down the tip
station at all or very little. If you measure point to point on the tip
station it's .240"+ the same as the flat to flat on the butt station. .240"
is just over 15/64's, so the 16/64's ferrule is a little over size for the
butt station also...

Jerry Y. stated: I was the one that is still looking for the taper for the 6
ft. Lee Wulff Midge taper.  The 1966 Norm Thompson catalog lists all the
Farlow series.  ie: 6 ft.. 6 1/2 ft., 7 ft., 7 1/2 ft., 8 ft., 8 1/2 ft. all
were 2 piece and all were $90.00.  They also listed Alan Sharpes "Scotties".
They don't show up in the 1968 catalog that I have.  Must have been offered
for a very short time.

I cast the rod this evening, started with a 6wWF, the power was there but it
seemed a little heavy so I switched to a 5wDT and it came alive. A very
smooth casting rod, able to reach 60' with very little effort. The taper
seems to be parabolic, as timing is everything on this rod. I put it to the
stress graph, I have included a gif but if it dose not work go to the Hexrod
site and enter "wulff" it will give you a complete run down for the next
three days...
