Lang s Spy - Marty D.

           At the Lang's auction last week I was allowed 1/2 hour before 
the preview opened to mike as many rods as I could. I had just under 400 
to choose from. These were high end rods which included , Garrison's, 
Dickerson's, Gillum's, Hallstead's, Payne's, Young's and Maxwell 
Leonards  among others . In the  time alotted I  miked 5 . 6' 2/2 
Gillum, 6 1/2' 2/2 Gillum, 5 1/2' Leonard Catskill, 6' 3/2 Leonard Hunt 
and a Paul Young Driggs. I picked the models mainly on size (I am a 
short rod guy) and rarity. I miked the Paul Young Driggs because I just 
made one which had a real Parabolic action and the one in the auction 
was finer tipped with a  fast dry fly action which I like much better. I 
will post the rest of these tapers over the next couple weeks. Sorry, I 
didn't have time for guide spacing. Marty
