Well I finally got a set of tips far enough along to take them out and =
cast them, and the new rods equal or exceed the original. I can easily =
cast a 4 or 5 DT line 60 to 70', and that's a lot for my casting ability =
with a 7' rod. There's none of the whiplash feel I had with the last =
set of tips and no dip in the line at all with either the 4 wt or the 5 =
wt line. I compared the curvature in one of the new rods to that of the =
original by hanging a weight on the tiptop, and the new one appears to =
be just a little stiffer in the top 5 inches or so. I like it better =
than the original because it seems to punch the line just a little =
better on long casts with both the 4 wt and the 5 wt lines without any =
loss of finesse in close. Anyway, here's the correct taper based on =
averaging the dimensions of the 2 tips from the original and minor =
adjustments to smooth out irregularities in the aspect ratio.

I apologize again to anyone who made a rod based on my original design =
dimensions, and was disappointed with the result.
