Short rod taper - Hayashida Darryl

Here is the taper, but remember, this is a very specialized rod. I love it
for the small overgrown streams that I made it for. Some people hate it -
but usually when they try it in a parking lot or casting pond they
immediately try to cast it 40 -50 feet IT WAS NOT MADE FOR THAT! This rod
was made to cast less than 15 - 20 feet most of the time. The tip is soft -
for short casts again - so most guys say it is too tippy. Remember what it
was made for. You will need a planing form capable of doing a swelled butt
between the 40 and 50 stations. I use a short 6 inch handle and regular reel
seat, so together they should not be longer than 9 - 10 inches. This is
important so that the swelled portion is far enough out in front of the
handle. I use a 4 or 5 wt. line with this rod.
