This rod amazed all who handled it at the Catskills Gathering. On paper,
and
to the eye of several experienced rodbuilders , it looks like a 5 weight
taper, but it competently cast a 7 weight for considerable distance. While
I
haven't charted the rod yet, It looks like this is explained by a strong
middle. Look at the jump from 42" to 39". I'm a little confused on how to
identify the rod. I missed the first part of the discussion and only heard it
identified as a Cross Sylph, but the Taper sheet calls it a Bataviakill.
Zimney? Chris? Can one of you clear this up?
